Brexit
The Irish Lift & Escalator industry has been reliant on UK based Inspection and Notified Bodies over the past decades. In the event of a no deal Brexit the UK Inspection and Notified Bodies will lose their EU accreditation and therefore will not be able to conduct inspections or certify lift contractors in the EU which includes the Republic of Ireland.
Lift Inspect Ltd. has a set out a road map to achieve accreditation for Inspection Bodies (ISO/IEC 17020:2012) by the Irish National Accreditation Board in 2019.
To serve the Lift & Escalator industry in Ireland and on completion of the Inspection Body accreditation to become a Notified Body for Lifts & Escalators in accordance with the relevant annexes of the European Lift & Machinery Directives.
